Sugar by any other name is... still sugar.

The next time you're thinking about buying or eating something that comes in a package take a good look at the label.

In Canada, ingredients are listed in order of weight. To avoid having sugar listed as the first ingredient, manufacturers have cleverly found ways to mislead us by adding a combination of DIFFERENT sweeteners. The reality is that it's all sugar!

Here are some of the many names for sugar:
  • sugar
  • brown sugar
  • fructose
  • high-fructose corn syrup
  • honey
  • molasses
Big culprits for misleading labelling... have a look the ingredients on your box of cereal. Let me know what cereal you're looking at and which sugars it contains.
